The international workshop titled “The Regional Workshop on Wastewater Treatment Plant Efficiency and Optimization using Radiotracers” and “Final Meeting of RER 1023 Harmonizing Implementation of Radiotracer and Sealed Sources Techniques for Efficient Use of Natural Resources and Environmental Monitoring” was successfully conducted. The event brought together experts from Azerbaijan, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye, as well as representatives of the IAEA.
The IAEA RER 1023 project aims to enhance the capacities of participating countries in the application of radiotracer and sealed source technologies to support the efficient and sustainable management of natural resources and the protection and improvement of the environment. Within this scope, a field study was carried out at the İSKİ Karaburun Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant during the workshop.
The workshop provided a highly effective platform for technical knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the strengthening of regional cooperation. Participants had the opportunity to discuss and share their experiences regarding radioactive tracing techniques and their industrial applications.
