The academic collaboration between Istanbul Technical University's Energy Institute and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, has continued to make significant progress in recent years. The interaction between the two institutions in research, student exchanges, and joint projects has deepened through mutual visits and scientific events.

The first steps of the collaboration were taken with an invited lecture titled "Self-healing Polymer Composites Produced by the ATRP Method," delivered by Prof. Dr. Nilgün Baydoğan at UTP on August 10, 2018. The Lecture Series organized within this framework attracted considerable attention and significantly contributed to the development of academic dialogue between the two universities. That same year, a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) was signed between the two institutions to strengthen their academic interaction.

As a continuation of this collaboration, a high-level delegation from ITU recently visited the Istanbul Technical University Energy Institute. During the visit, views were exchanged on sustainable energy, advanced material technologies, and joint R&D projects, and concrete future project topics were evaluated between the two institutions. The visiting delegation visited our laboratories and received detailed information about ITU's research infrastructure.

The ITU-UTP academic partnership continues to strengthen with joint research projects, graduate student studies, and mutual academic assignments. Our institute aims to further expand this long-standing collaboration in the coming years with joint publications, student exchanges, and international project applications.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the ITU delegation for this productive academic interaction and eagerly await the new scientific outcomes that will emerge from these ongoing studies.
