With the joint collaboration of TUBITAK and NRF, new generation perovskite solar cells were developed.

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nilgün Karatepe Yavuz and with the joint collaboration of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and The National Research Foundation (NRF) the project entitled “Cost-Effective Production of Perovskite and Near-Infrared-Sensitive Quantum Dot Solar Cells with Newly Designed Carbon Electrode and Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Hole Transport Layer” has been completed. Within the scope of this bilateral project, various optimization studies were carried out including the integration of cheap and stable carbon electrodes and the addition of thiophene based fused materials to the active layer of inverted type perovskite solar cells. As a result, the power conversion efficiency of 14.59% has been achieved. “Near-Infrared-Sensitive Quantum Dot Solar Cells” was developed by the Korean partner (Dr. Hyosung Choi-Hanyang University).

Our laboratory-scale research and applications are of strategic importance for the information infrastructure required for highly efficient and stable solar panels to be produced in our country in the following years.
